New York City Museums in the Upper East Side

What to do in museums of

the upper east side

what NY socialites do in 10021

A New York Socialite is brought up to be cultured, educated and to love and be passionate about the arts. There is no greater appreciation than support and patronage of museums. While it does not always require a wing be named after a socialite family, love of art can be expressed in a multitude of ways. This blog is an expression for the love of art in New York Museums. You can even call it a passion.

Why do MOST prostitutes, gangleaders, drug lords in Asia worship Taoist gods?

I live in Asia and have witnessed this strange trend.

These people worship taoist gods and ask the gods to grant them success in these vice activities.

In my personal opinion, modern taoism with the many gods is a false religion and an evil in society.

I am Asian, Singaporean by the way.

What do you guys think about this trend?

they clearly do not truly follow Taoism. Its a very peaceful religion. It is not evil, but rather those who use it as an excuse to spread hatred or pain… It is like any other religion.

Subway station in NYC?

Hi, i’m going to NYC soon, it’s my first time there and will be using the subway system ALOT! If anyone could help me with the nearest to the following places (sorry that there’s a lot lol):

Milford Plaza Hotel Broadway
Rockafellar Center
Times Square
Empire State Building
Topshop
Metropolitan museum of art
Wall Street
New York public library
Museum of natural history
Pier 83
Guggenheim Museum
Downtown Manhattan Heliport at Pier 6 and East river
Louis Vuitton
The Apple store
Bloomingdales
The Gershwin Theater
F.A.O. Shwartz
Macy’s
Brooklyn Bridge
Trump Tower
St Patrick’s Cathedral
9/11 memorial
Greenwich Village
Little Italy
China Town
All Saints
Victoria’s Secret
Radio City

If anyone could tell me that would be excellent, also if there are more than one than any of the listed places above the nearest one to Times Square would be the best! Thanks.

The subway station for all of the following would be 42nd Street/Times Square:

Milford Plaza Hotel
Times Square

You could also use it to go to the Gershwin Theater, but both the 50th Street stop on the #1 and the 50th Street stop on the C and E line are closer. (Those are two different stations, despite having the same name.)

As you can see, there’s more than one stop for may of the places on your list. Which one you take will depend where you are coming from.

When you get here, get a subway map. They’re free at the subway booths. Also, the MTA has a good website with a location finder gizmo on it. Also, there’s a great app called Hopstop – you can use it online (Hopstop.com) or on a smartphone.

Asking the question like this isnt very helpful.

Does anyone know the theme behind the Guggenheim Museum Bilboa by Frank Gehry and the inspiration behind it?

Asia might control a lot of wealth in the future?

Do you guys feel that China will one day become more open/democratic, Korea will unify, and the rest of Asia will become a more open society?

I’m hoping so. The world should be peaceful. The human race has only one planet. We should take care of it and love others.
Asia’s such a huge continent, so I’m mainly referring to East/Southeast Asia

The financial power is shifting towards Asia right now. In terms of GDP, China is in the G7 category, they surpassed Italy. As for the Foreign Cash Reserves, the top 4 countries are in Asia, China being #1, Japan being #2, Taiwan #3, South Korea #4, in other words we are bankrolling US’s debt.

Now, here’s the thing about democracy or openness, ask yourself this question: "Is the Western concept of democracy the best way?" It may work for white people, but not necessarily Asians. Most people care about making sure their families are fed and they have a roof over their heads and if the government is providing the policies that meet those needs and then some, does it really matter, if they do the so-called superior Western style of democracy? By not living in these countries, we really don’t know what’s going on. The job of the news is to report something out of the ordinary, that’s why it’s the news. Based on my travels to China and SE Asia, the people are free to demonstrate, speak their minds, they live life just like anywhere else (I haven’t been to Myanmar, so I don’t know). And if you look at the history of Asia, it was always people power (through demonstrations, taking it to the streets) that always brought forth a better future as opposed to Western meddling.

As for China, what we have to worry about is not their government, but the have-nots, as the rich get richer and the poor get poorer, if the gap widens too much, there could be social instability and riots, this would have more of an economic impact within Asia more than their style of government and Chinese government leaders know this too, so this is what we really have to worry about. I live in South Korea so I know.

What are things you wish didn’t exist in society?

One of my biggest pet peeves are the "required tip" and after living in asia for 2 yrs, I have come to question tipping. Why should I tip for the most basic of services. Isnt this person already being paid? Am I not already paying for food. I understand that they get paid a sub minimum wage because of expected tips, but in principle, I think its dumb.
Does anyone have any other things in western society they wished didnt exist?

Bras.

What is this song? Please help!!?

I heard a song on the radio yesterday and i cant figure out what its called or who its by but i found the lyrics.
My friend said beyonce but i cant find it! i really really like it, please help me.
Is it beyonce or someone else??

Chorus]
This is something for the streets to rock to
Get your weight up, dedicated to all haters
That’s right…This is something for the streets to rock to
Niggaz get your weight up, dedicated to all haters

[Verse 1]
Yoaw…And floss fakers
you in the presence of one of the greatest, Toronto be itching to place this
Sauks kissed your face, 92 give me ratings
Spins…like I sold my soul to Satan
You about to feel the don’s creation
Pimping, never slipping on your radio station, ma
Shake your ass, you getting impatient, ma
My record’s delayed, I feel your frustration, yeah
Saukrates, the hottest to trot since
College air-play was T.O.’s only option
When I was sixteen getting my first props and
The world was eagerly watching me, raising stocks man
The Circle’s back
Kardinal Offishall, Choclair, Ro Ro D, Jully Black
My man Solitaire, Y-Look, and Tara
Chase and Marvel will hit you with the ??? tomorrow

[Chorus]
Oh no! It’s something for the streets to rock to
Nigga get your weight up, dedicated to all haters, uh

[Verse 2]
Face this, a Big Black Lincoln cruising
Through your hood with the lights low, bringing the bruising
We teamed up with IRS, and Brassmunk
Me and my dog Igal hit that nice for your trunk
Yes…Redman is my bredren and
Yes…You probably seen me with Methodman
It’s Def Jam, what you thought was gon’ happen
Got ten times worse when I started rapping
Just like when bullets get to clapping, it’s hard to believe a
Brick wall hit your face, and scarred with amnesia
I’m Scarborough ’til I die, giving women the seizure
They see me on Kennedy Road rolling geeza
It’s all to the good!

[Bridge]
Yes, I’m reppin’ every hood (Let ‘em know!)
Reagent Park, Jungle City throw your hands up
Rexdale, Jane & Finch serious as cancer, Toronto bringing the answer like
Pick a dayyyy, you can die in a million one wayyyyyys
From the action, Saukrates don’t playyyyy
It’s Saukrates with that Gilla House
Funky for your radio, touche!

[Chorus]
This is something for the streets to rock to
Niggaz get your weight up, dedicated to all haters
Yes! Capitol Hill! This is something for the streets to rock to
Niggaz get your weight up, dedicated to all haters
Saukrates, give me my papers, man…

American womens lives have changed radically over the last half-century. Tonight, successful women who came of age in different eras compare their experiences as writers, workers, lovers, mothers and daughters and discuss the pendulum swing of their lives, from stability and traditionalism to rebellion and bohemianism and back again.
